Tricky

A key figure in trip hop, Tricky returns to the stage on 9 July 2026 at Triennale Milano with a renewed show. After years of sonic exploration, he presents a reworking of his repertoire, blending new productions and reinterpreted classics conceived for the stage.

Raised in Bristol and also known as Adrian Thaws, he left his mark on the 1990s through collaborations with Massive Attack and the 1995 release Maxinquaye, an album that helped define an aesthetic of slowed beats, fractured voices and cinematic tension. Over time he has woven collaborations with PJ Harvey, Björk and many others, maintaining an essential approach that continually shifts the boundaries between hip hop, electronic, dub and pop.

In concert, Tricky plays with contrasts: whispers and deep bass, silences and melodic fragments. The new production places the voice and the rhythmic backbone at the centre, allowing details and nuances to emerge. A trajectory that speaks to diverse audiences, recognized even by artists such as David Bowie, and which in this incarnation offers a direct encounter with his sonic universe.
