Info
Dead Calm plays Opium in Dublin on 26 September 2026. Under this moniker, Galway-born and Buncrana-raised musician Liam McCay explores a bare-bones side of his slowcore universe. Active since 2022, he splits his songwriting across several aliases — Sign Crushes Motorist, Birth Day, Take Care — while keeping a consistent taste for short, melancholic and minimal forms. As Dead Calm, he leans into slow tempos, hushed guitars and stripped-down writing that lets small details do the work.
Sitting between lo-fi and indie rock, the project traces a clear path through two albums: Accept (2023), which set out the palette, and Keep Moving (2025), which refines it without changing the frame. On stage, the songs unfold with space and restraint, built on steady patterns, close-mic vocals and lean arrangements. Dead Calm holds a distinct place in McCay’s catalogue, while staying aligned with the intimate, independent aesthetic that runs through all his projects.
