LCD Soundsystem

LCD Soundsystem land in Vancouver on August 8, 2026 at Freedom Mobile Arch. Formed in Brooklyn in 2002 around James Murphy, cofounder of DFA Records, the band sits between dance‑punk, disco pulse and post‑punk tension, folding club structures into a live, guitar‑synth drum machine. From the early single Losing My Edge through the self‑titled debut, 45:33, Sound of Silver and This Is Happening to the return with American Dream, the catalogue runs on looping basslines, dry synth motifs, angular guitars and vocals that slip between talk‑sing and direct melodies.

On stage, Murphy leads a tight, flexible unit with long‑time partners Nancy Whang, Pat Mahoney, Tyler Pope and Al Doyle, sometimes joined by Korey Richey or Phil Mossman. Tracks are built layer by layer, percussion stacks up, and the groove settles in with a steady, physical pull. After a 2011 farewell at Madison Square Garden and a restart in 2015, the group kept moving with residencies, festival slots and new material, including New Body Rhumba in 2022 and X‑Ray Eyes in 2024. Their sets often thread early singles with later cuts, stretch forms without losing the pulse, and keep the dance floor at the center of the project.
