Info
Citizen brings Halcyon Blues to Danforth Music Hall, Toronto, on August 25, 2026. Formed between Toledo and southeast Michigan, the band has grown from its emo and post-hardcore roots into a wider alternative rock frame, where dense guitars, shoegaze shades and a more measured melodic writing sit together. Around singer Mat Kerekes with Nick Hamm, Eric Hamm, Mason Mercer and Ben Russin, Citizen’s path runs from the taut impact of Youth (2013) to the hazier edges of Everybody Is Going to Heaven (2015). As You Please (2017) opens up the scope toward indie rock, a move refined on Life in Your Glass World (2021) and the more direct punch of Calling the Dogs (2023). On stage, the band plays on contrast: tension and release, thick textures and clear hooks.
Sharing the bill, Hotline TNT is the project of Wisconsin-born Will Anderson, now a tight live unit with Lucky Hunter, Haylen Trammel and Mike Ralston. Their sound stacks shoegaze weight and indie rock drive with a pop sense that cuts through the fuzz: big guitars, crisp melodies, vocals blending into the mix without losing the line. After a run of DIY releases, Cartwheel (2023) fixed that balance and pushed the group dynamic forward, a shift that comes alive in concert with arrangements built for volume, momentum and chorus-ready riffs.
