Assassin is a French hip‑hop group, founded in Paris in the mid‑1980s and led by Rockin' Squat, a prominent figure in politically engaged rap in France. A pioneer of conscious, independent hip‑hop, the group established itself from the start with an uncompromising voice, committed lyrics and artistic freedom. Assassin is the first French rap group to obtain a gold record entirely independently, producing and distributing its music through its own label, Assassin Productions. With more than one million albums sold, the group has influenced several generations of artists.
In 2026, the group announced its return with a new album and a tour. Assassin will perform at the Rockstore on April 9, 2027 at 5:00 PM.
