Yard Act

On 3 October 2026, Yard Act will take the stage at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. The four-piece from Leeds delivers a sharp, narrative take on British post-punk, where humour and social observation meet. Frontman James Smith talk-sings his lyrics with a tight cadence; bassist Ryan Needham lays down the groove with dry, propulsive patterns, while guitar and drums keep the whole thing angular and alert. With their debut album The Overload (2022) the band established a world full of small frustrations, street portraits and irony; since then the palette has grown broader and the rhythm looser, without losing its directness.

On stage everything revolves around timing and friction: short stories that collide with tight bass riffs, choruses that don’t shout but linger, breaks that give the floor a gentle push. Yard Act plays compact and to the point, drawing on material from The Overload and newer work, and keeps the audience close both to the lyrics and to the groove.
