Info
After a 2025 tour that drew more than 100,000 spectators, “The Music of John Williams and Hans Zimmer in Symphonic Concert” returns on March 6, 2027, at 7:00 PM to Arkea Arena (Floirac). On the program: Interstellar, Jurassic Park, The Dark Knight, Harry Potter, Inception, Star Wars, and Pirates of the Caribbean. The film scores will be performed by more than 70 musicians on stage. Under the direction of conductor Nicolas Simon, the Yellow Socks Orchestra — a French symphonic orchestra specializing in film music — will perform the works of these two composers.
John Williams, renowned for his orchestration, has had a decisive impact on film music since the 1970s. The longtime composer for Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, he wrote the scores for many cinematic masterpieces: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jaws, and Indiana Jones. His instantly recognizable melodic themes helped restore the symphony orchestra to the heart of film music. The recipient of 5 Academy Awards and 54 nominations, Williams has created a body of work that spans generations.
Hans Zimmer, by contrast, pursues a modern approach. A German-born, naturalized American composer, he has reshaped the conventions of film music by combining orchestral writing with electronic sonorities. His collaborations with Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar) and Ridley Scott (Gladiator) have left a mark on contemporary cinema. Winner of 2 Academy Awards, he sculpts immersive atmospheres in service of the images.
