Sekou

Sekou brings his voice-led take on British soul-pop to Drake Underground in Toronto on June 22, 2026. Between Leicester, where he grew up, and London, where he honed his craft, he shaped a sound rooted in gospel and R&B: ballads and mid-tempos carried by a deep, ample tone, with discreet funk touches, layered harmonies and a clean, contemporary production that leaves room for the voice.

First noticed as a teenager through stripped-back covers posted online, he moved from early club gigs to festival slots including Glastonbury and support tours, quietly building his place on the UK scene. Cited by the BBC in its emerging selections and nominated at the BRIT Awards, he opened a first discographic chapter with the EP Out of Mind in 2023.

On stage in Toronto, he threads those early cuts with newer material, focusing on dynamics, space and vocal interplay. The set leans into intimacy before opening up, keeping the spotlight on timbre and phrasing rather than showy effects, and letting the songs do the talking.
