Steeped in early‑20th‑century jazz and faithful to the legacy of the composer Lucho Bermúdez, the musicians of this ensemble blend tradition with a contemporary approach.
In recent years, cumbia — a popular musical expression in Latin America — has found its place in the programming of France’s national stages. Cumbia Ya! explores the popular elements and the compositional writing of this music in an orchestral format.
Over its 20 years of existence, Cumbia Ya!'s music has been shaped around compositions by the orchestra's musicians. In residence at Studio de l'Ermitage for more than 18 years, their pieces have taken shape in close connection with the public.
