Angine de Poitrine

Angine de Poitrine is the instrumental duo of Klek and Khn de Poitrine, active since 2023 in Quebec. Live, they shape pieces through a patient build-and-subtract game: short motifs pile up, recede, and return, driven by a dry, precise drum sound and guitar/bass lines that flirt with microtonality. Chromatic phrases add discreet tension inside asymmetric forms, while the pulse keeps shifting just enough to stay restless and danceable. No vocals here—everything hinges on movement, variation and rhythmic displacement, somewhere between experimental rock, math rock, angular post-punk and a mechanic of repetition borrowed from certain strains of techno.

Their 2024 release Vol. 1 provides the backbone for a set that has been sharpened on Quebec stages and in festivals like the Montreal Jazz Festival. Expect an evolving, tight performance that plays with friction, groove and space. Angine de Poitrine will perform at The Pearl in Vancouver on 25 August 2026.
