The Pharcyde

The Pharcyde bring their alternative West Coast rap to The Pearl in Vancouver on April 16, 2026. Formed in late-80s South Central Los Angeles, the crew first came together as dancers and TV choreographers—Imani, Slimkid3, Bootie Brown and Fatlip—before switching focus to rhymes shaped by humor, introspection and a taste for soul and jazz samples. Signed to Delicious Vinyl, they released 1992’s Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde, then explored more mellow textures and detailed writing on 1995’s Labcabincalifornia, with production from Jay Dee.

On stage, The Pharcyde lean into elastic rhythms, conversational back-and-forth and narrative detail, shifting from bounce to more reflective moods. The show draws on early singles and album cuts alike, spanning Plain Rap and Humboldt Beginnings alongside the first two records. Decades on, the group’s flow, timing and sense of choreography still drive a live set where verses dovetail, hooks loop and sample-rich textures keep the groove moving.
