Jalen Ngonda

On 11 October 2026 at Muffathalle, Munich, Jalen Ngonda brings a soul set that looks back and moves forward at the same time. Raised in Silver Spring and shaped in Liverpool at LIPA, he cut his teeth in small clubs before teaming with Daptone Records, pairing 60s-rooted arrangements with a clean, melodic writing style.

The show pivots around his second album, Doctrine Of Love. The title song, sparked during a James Brown phase, gave him a word to play with: doctrine as a kind of certificate of love, a code you can live by or bend to your own meaning. That thread runs through the record and the set, where concise songs, tight grooves and a voice right up front do the talking.

On stage, Ngonda keeps the instrumentation simple and physical: rhythm section first, a few brass or string colours, and melodies that land fast. Expect older cuts from Come Around and Love Me alongside new material, carried by a singer who treats soul as both archive and ground to explore, without leaning on nostalgia.
