On 10 May 2026 at the Molotov in Marseille, -(16)- came to erect a wall of sludge metal. Active since the early 1990s, the American band helped shape the genre alongside Acid Bath, Eyehategod and Crowbar. Centered on guitarist Bobby Ferry and singer Cris Jerue, -(16)- blends slow tempos, dissonant guitars and a roughness drawn from hardcore and noise rock. The set draws on Curves That Kick and Drop Out as well as more recent releases Lifespan of a Moth, Dream Squasher and Into Dust, producing a dense, repetitive sound in which the riffs lumber and the rhythm section dictates the pace. The lyrics probe the grey areas of everyday life—failure, addiction, tension—directly, while the raspy voice cuts through the whole. On stage, the band prioritizes impact and cohesion, without frills, relying on the abrasive texture that has become its trademark.
