Info
Marillion is set to perform on 19 October 2026 at Muziekcentrum Enschede. The British band, formed in Aylesbury in the late 1970s, builds a bridge between the prog legacy of the 1970s and a more direct, song-oriented approach. In the early 1980s Marillion stood out with frontman Fish, theatrical flourishes and albums such as Script for a Jester’s Tear, Fugazi and Misplaced Childhood: epic, melodic pieces that place narrative and atmosphere centre stage. The arrival of singer Steve Hogarth at the end of the 1980s ushered in a new phase, audible on Seasons End and Brave, where progressive rock rubs up against atmospheric pop and contemporary textures.
The core lineup — Steve Rothery, Mark Kelly, Pete Trewavas, Ian Mosley and Steve Hogarth — keeps the sound sharp and coherent, with guitar lines that leave space to breathe, keyboards that sketch film-score-like layers and a rhythm section that carries the long arcs of tension. Live it’s all about dynamics and detail: extended compositions, cyclical themes and fluid transitions in which new material can sit alongside early classics. From Marbles to F E A R and An Hour Before It’s Dark, Marillion continues to seek expansive songs that nonetheless linger. In Enschede the band will present that evolution without frills: a focus on the music, stories that unfold with each song, and a set that lets past and present converge.
