Yumi Zouma

Yumi Zouma bring their feather-light blend of dream and synth pop to Berlin: on 14 March 2026 they will play at Badehaus Berlin. Founded in Christchurch, the quartet initially developed as a remote studio project, with ideas travelling across continents via files. The result are songs with soft vocals, shimmering guitars and subtle electronic textures — intimate, melodic and clearly focused.

Since the early EPs from 2014 and 2015, the band around Christie Simpson, Josh Burgess, Charlie Ryder and Olivia Campion have steadily refined their sound: Yoncalla (2016) and Willowbank (2017) favour compact songwriting; 2017 saw a complete reinterpretation of Rumours. EP III (2018) continued in that vein, before Truth or Consequences (2020) and Present Tense (2022) brought 80s pop influences and multi-part harmonies more to the fore.

Live, Yumi Zouma strip their songs back to the essentials: catchy hooks, restrained grooves and clear arrangements. The set at Badehaus will traverse their repertoire — from the early EPs to the most recent albums — and demonstrate how their understated studio textures come together organically on stage.
