Grupo Compay Segundo

On April 4, 2026 at L'Idéal, Lézignan‑Corbières, Grupo Compay Segundo brought the Cuban sound shaped by maestro Compay Segundo to life — the figure who became widely known through the Buena Vista Social Club. Direct heirs to that legacy, they continue the journey with a repertoire that blends standards and recent pieces, carried by close‑harmony vocals, a supple rhythm section and acoustic arrangements faithful to the traditions of Santiago and Havana. Of course they include “Chan Chan,” but also perform compositions from the album Vivelo (2022), notably signed by Salvador Repilado, Compay’s son, here on double bass, and by Maikel Dinza. Hugo Garzón Bargallo sings lead, while the group forges a continuity between the founder’s historical repertoire — the author of more than 400 songs — and contemporary songwriting. Recorded with guests such as Issac Delgado, Alexander Abreu and Rolando Luna, Vivelo extends this bridge between roots and the present, which the group defends on stage with warm energy and a sense of groove without unnecessary effects.
