On 18 December 2026, Ibrahim Maalouf and Hiba Tawaji bring their project À la française to the Théâtre Royal in Mons. Trumpeter and composer Ibrahim Maalouf, born in Beirut and raised in France, has spent the past twenty years building a career between jazz stages, orchestral creations and music for film and theater. Trained by his father Nassim and shaped by the tradition of Maurice André, he moves freely between the studio, festivals and large concert halls, with an emphasis on collaboration and exchange between disciplines.
Singer and performer Hiba Tawaji began in Beirut between the conservatory and drama school and made a name for herself within Oussama Rahbani’s universe. Her repertoire ranges from Arabic pop to symphonically-tinged arrangements, with influences from classical music, jazz and French chanson. After The Voice in France, she broadened her path toward a Francophone audience and portrayed Esmeralda in Notre‑Dame de Paris, while her albums alternate between Arabic and French.
Together, Maalouf’s trumpet and Tawaji’s voice seek the meeting point between improvisation and lyricism, between Levantine timbres and French melodies. À la française brings their two narrative worlds together in a concert where dialogue is central and where origin, language and style find one another in a shared musical language.
