Info
On May 16, 2026, King Tuff plugs in at The Sound Garage in Toronto. Behind the name is Kyle Thomas, a Vermont songwriter who treats garage rock like a pop lab: fuzzed guitars, glam-tinted choruses and flashes of daydream psychedelia. Onstage he moves from head-down stompers to jangly, sunstruck ballads, keeping the riffs up front and the melodies easy to sing. The set pulls from across his catalog, from Was Dead and the self-titled cuts through Black Moon Spell and The Other to the more recent Smalltown Stardust songs, where the grit eases into folkier colors without losing the bite.
Live, the band runs lean and tight: elastic basslines, punchy drums, and guitar lines that snap into place before drifting into wiry solos. Between songs, Thomas lets a dry sense of humor sneak in, then kicks back into choruses built to carry a room. If you’ve worn out Bad Thing, Eyes of the Muse or Smalltown Stardust, you’ll find the same mix of garage crunch and wide-open hooks pushed a little louder and a little rougher. A concise, no-frills show that gets straight to what King Tuff does best, in a venue made for feeling it up close.
