On 20 March 2026 at Schloss Neuhardenberg in Neuhardenberg, the Nils Petter Molvær Trio presents Stitches, a set situated between jazz improvisation, ambient and electronically driven grooves. The Norwegian trumpeter, shaped by the Oslo scene and the ECM milieu (Masqualero, later solo work), sculpts his tone between clear linearity, subtle saturation and repetitive motifs. In trio formation the trumpet acts as a melodic thread through layered soundscapes; beneath these, pulsating patterns reference dub and post‑rock. Stitches consolidates this signature: expansive spaces, reduced themes, detailed sound design and interaction that builds and releases tension. The pieces unfold slowly, with a focus on texture, timing and the breath of the pauses. Echoes of albums such as Khmer, Solid Ether or NP3 are present—live they are edgier and leave room for longer arcs, without losing sight of the improvisational core.
