Info
Glen Hansard is coming to Cologne: on May 6, 2026 the Irish songwriter will take the stage at the E-Werk in Cologne, spanning three decades of music—from The Frames and Once to his solo albums. He founded The Frames in 1990, creating a distinctive rock voice; he became internationally known through the independent film Once, whose song “Falling Slowly” won the 2008 Oscar for Best Original Song. Since 2012 he has released music under his own name, from Rhythm and Repose through Didn’t He Ramble (Grammy-nominated) to This Wild Willing, and he has also worked and performed alongside artists such as Eddie Vedder and Robbie Robertson.
Live, Hansard combines folk sensibility with rock dynamism. His distinctive voice carries quiet ballads as well as more forceful numbers, with guitar and piano setting the tone. The program will feature a mix of classics like “Falling Slowly” and newer material, leaving room for dynamics and spontaneous turns—unadorned and close to the audience. An evening that places songwriting at the center and shows how Hansard brings his stories to the stage directly, clearly and with great presence.
