Patson presents Baltazar, a no-nonsense stand-up show made up of jokes, rhythm and improvisation. Discovered at the Jamel Comedy Club, the comedian deploys his gift of gab and a very conversational delivery, steeped in slang and urban culture. He draws on everyday life — family, commuting — and on the movements between the Ivory Coast, the Antilles and mainland France to weave scenes and contrasts he knows well. With undiminished verve and a wide perspective, he spares no one, speaking bluntly but with personal warmth. Always close to the audience, he strings together micro-stories and quick barbs in the American-style stand-up vein. And the familiar nods in his repertoire are there: “Yes papa,” some fancy footwork — it’s a freebie.
