John Butler with Band

John Butler brings his band to History, 1663 Queen Street East in Toronto on April 17, 2026. Raised between California and Western Australia, the singer-guitarist forged a sound rooted in acoustic guitar, folk and roots. After busking in Fremantle in the mid‑90s, he self-released the cassette Searching for Heritage in 1996 and a first album in 1998, before shaping the evolving John Butler Trio. Through records like Three, Sunrise Over Sea, Grand National, April Uprising, Flesh & Blood and Home, he blends folk, blues and rock with touches of funk and reggae.

On stage, Butler favors open tunings, long instrumental pieces and an improvisational approach that stretches songs without losing the groove.
