On March 22, 2026, The Starlite Room in Edmonton hosts Anika. Between Berlin and the UK, the singer and artist shapes a lean blend of post-punk, dub and experimental pop, led by a spoken-sung voice and slow, near-minimal rhythms. Before music, Annika Henderson worked as a political journalist, a background that feeds lyrics built on social observation and direct phrasing. Her path took off in the early 2010s with Geoff Barrow and members of Beak>, yielding the self-titled debut in 2010 on Invada and Stones Throw, where covers and originals share an austere, echo-soaked frame. She went on to start Exploded View with Mexico-based players, releasing an album in 2016 then Obey in 2018, pushing slow-burn kraut leanings, experiments and stripped songs. With Change (2021), Anika returned to more melodic outlines while keeping a shadowy, repetitive production; on stage she moves between band shows, intimate performances and DJ sets across Europe, the UK and North America.
