UB40 arrives at the Mas des Escaravatiers on August 5, 2026, in Puget‑sur‑Argens. Born in Birmingham in the late 1970s, the band initially played a reggae rooted in British working‑class reality before broadening its repertoire to include both original compositions and covers. From Signing Off and Present Arms to the Labour of Love series, UB40 established a clear signature: brass pushed to the fore, mid‑tempo rhythms, a warm, rounded bass and a blend of reggae, pop and rock that flirts with dub, alternating social‑commentary lyrics with reinterpretations of 1960s–70s classics.

Line‑up changes over the years have not altered the essentials: songs that move between rearranged standards and homegrown material, with a wide, melodic sound conceived for the stage. In the intimacy of the Mas, the arrangements take on greater scope, with vocal harmonies, warm keyboards and a supple groove.
