Info
George Thorogood & The Destroyers roll into Grey Eagle in Calgary on March 21, 2026. Formed in the 1970s around guitarist-singer George Thorogood and drummer Jeff Simon, the band forged a sound rooted in electric blues, boogie and straight-ahead rock and roll. Their early records—George Thorogood and the Destroyers (1977) and Move It on Over (1978)—set the tone: slide guitar up front, tight riffs, a steady backbeat, and a setlist mixing originals with cuts inspired by John Lee Hooker, Elmore James and Chuck Berry. The momentum carried through More George Thorogood and the Destroyers (1980) and Bad to the Bone (1982), then Maverick (1985) and Born to Be Bad (1988), all anchored by a lean, unvarnished approach honed on the road.
On stage, the group keeps it direct: simple structures, brisk tempos and that bar-band energy built for live rooms. Expect a set that travels across their catalogue while staying close to the blues roots that drive it, from boogie shuffles to rock and roll stomp. Venue: Grey Eagle, 3777 Grey Eagle Drive, Calgary.
