Rush « Fifty Something »

RUSH: Fifty Something brings the Canadian rock trio back to home ground at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on August 9, 2026. Formed in 1968, Rush has built a sound at the crossroads of hard rock, progressive rock and, at times, heavy metal. Stabilized around Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart from 1974, the band moved from the blues-rock leanings of its debut toward more structured and conceptual works like 2112 and Moving Pictures. Long-form compositions, shifting time signatures and careful melodic work shape their music, while lyrics largely written by Peart explore science fiction, introspection and social questions.

Through the 1980s, albums such as Signals brought more keyboards and new-wave textures, before a gradual return to a more guitar-forward approach in the 1990s and 2000s with Vapor Trails and Clockwork Angels. On stage, the power-trio format favors clarity and interplay: bass, guitar and drums locking into patterns that leave space for dynamics and narrative. Across decades, that balance between weight, precision and storytelling has defined Rush, and it remains the thread running through this new chapter at Scotiabank Arena.
