Info
Said The Whale marks twenty years on the road with a Toronto stop for their 20th Anniversary Tour. Formed in Vancouver around songwriters Ben Worcester and Tyler Bancroft, and joined by keyboardist Jaycelyn Brown, the band crafts melodic indie rock with a pop streak and a clear sense of song. Bright guitars, tight vocal harmonies and lyrics grounded in Pacific coast daily life have driven them from small rooms to a steady catalogue that keeps evolving.
From Taking Abalonia, later revisited as Howe Sounds/Taking Abalonia, through Islands Disappear and Little Mountain, they shaped a balance between punchy, up-tempo cuts and slower, more contemplative tracks. The pop-leaning hawaiii sharpened the interplay between Worcester and Bancroft’s voices, while As Long As Your Eyes Are Wide turned slightly inward. Cascadia and Dandelion carried that line forward, folding indie rock, alternative pop and soft folk shades into compact, melodic arrangements.
Expect a set that scans these chapters with special guests along for the ride: direct songs, close harmonies and a live energy built on dynamics rather than volume. Saturday, April 18, 2025 at Lee’s Palace, Toronto.
