Info
Thievery Corporation lands in Toronto on March 19, 2026 at History, 1663 Queen Street East. Formed in Washington, D.C. by Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, the project shaped its sound in the mid-90s around the Eighteenth Street Lounge and their label ESL Music, blending downtempo, trip-hop, dub, bossa nova, reggae and jazz with influences from India and the Middle East. Their debut Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi set the foundation, followed by The Mirror Conspiracy and The Richest Man in Babylon, where guest voices and cinematic textures stepped forward. The Cosmic Game and Radio Retaliation pushed deeper into dub and Latin currents while bringing geopolitical themes into the lyrics. Culture of Fear and Saudade leaned toward slow-motion orchestrations and melancholic bossa, then The Temple of I & I and Treasures from the Temple tightened the link with Jamaican culture.
On stage, Thievery Corporation appears as a full collective with singers and instrumentalists, moving from lounge atmospheres to bass-driven dub, from Brazilian sway to global groove. A fluid live setup that lets each vocalist and rhythm section take space, shaped for a concert hall like History.
