April Wine

On February 28, 2026, April Wine plays Burton Cummings Theatre, 364 Smith Street, R3B 2H2 Winnipeg. Formed in 1969 in Halifax before moving to Montreal, the band built a blend of melodic hard rock, FM rock and electric ballads driven by Myles Goodwyn’s voice and guitar. Early albums—April Wine (1971), On Record (1972) and Electric Jewels (1973)—set the tone with harmonized guitars and radio rock choruses. The run continued with Stand Back (1975) and First Glance (1978), alongside steady North American touring. In the early 1980s, The Nature of the Beast (1981) and Power Play (1982) sharpened the contrast between riff-led tracks and slower cuts; songs like Just Between You and Me, I Like to Rock and Sign of the Gypsy Queen remain central in their repertoire. After a pause, the 1990s brought Attitude (1993) and Frigate (1994). Since then, April Wine has focused on the stage with a lineup revolving around Goodwyn, anchored in classic, melodic hard rock.
