Info
On April 8, 2026, The Goo Goo Dolls bring their Canada Spring 2026 tour to Place Bell in Laval, 1950 Rue Claude-Gagné, with Dashboard Confessional.
Formed in Buffalo in 1986 by John Rzeznik and Robby Takac, The Goo Goo Dolls moved from punk-inflected power pop to a more melodic rock sound in the 90s. Early records like Goo Goo Dolls, Jed and Hold Me Up set the tone, followed by Superstar Car Wash and A Boy Named Goo, which delivered Name. Dizzy Up the Girl in 1998 anchored their mix of acoustic ballads and electric guitars with Iris, written for the City of Angels soundtrack. The band has kept that balance across the 2000s and 2010s with Gutterflower, Let Love In, Something for the Rest of Us, Magnetic, Boxes, Miracle Pill and Chaos in Bloom, centered on Rzeznik’s songwriting and Takac’s bass-driven energy.
Dashboard Confessional, the project led by singer-guitarist Chris Carrabba, emerged at the turn of the 2000s with a stripped, narrative take on emo and alternative rock. From The Swiss Army Romance and The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most to MTV Unplugged 2.0, the songs shifted from intimate acoustics to full-band dynamics. A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar and Dusk and Summer widened the scope, followed by The Shade of Poison Trees, Alter the Ending, Crooked Shadows and All the Truth That I Can Tell, keeping the focus on voice, guitar and direct storytelling.
