Info
Born in Dublin in the late 2010s, The Scratch is a four-piece that flipped its metal roots into an acoustic, rhythm-led approach. Former members of Red Enemy, they fuse Irish folk, punk bite and a rock/metal edge: rapid acoustic guitars, dry percussion and chanted harmonies that keep the songs close to traditional writing while carrying real drive. Early home-recorded videos grew a following on the Irish indie circuit, followed by steady touring across Ireland and the UK.
Their releases map that evolution: the EP Old Songs (2018), The Whole Buzz (2019), the album Couldn’t Give A Rats (2020) and Mind Yourself (2023), which leans further into collective vocals and dynamic shifts without losing a raw, direct core. On stage, the quartet moves from story-led melodies to percussive bursts, four voices locking with hand and foot drums, keeping intensity high even without electric amps.
The Scratch plays Vancouver on May 23, 2026 at Commodore Ballroom, 868 Granville Street, V6Z 1K3, Canada. Expect tight interplay, gang vocals and tempos that swing from slow burn to sprint, all carried by acoustic instruments and a live energy rooted in hardcore DNA.
