The Irish Rovers

The Irish Rovers bring six decades of Celtic folk to Winnipeg on March 11, 2026 at Club Regent Event Centre. Formed in early‑60s Toronto by musicians from Northern Ireland, the band shaped a sound rooted in traditional song: ballads, pub sing‑alongs, drinking songs and maritime tales, arranged with acoustic drive, country touches and the easy swing of a barroom session. Early releases like The First of the Irish Rovers and The Unicorn carried them from Canadian folk clubs to international stages and television.

Through the 70s and a brief 80s chapter as The Rovers, they leaned into country and pop before returning to a clear Celtic identity. On stage today, they weave classic shanties, stories of exile and memory, and newer originals, keeping a live feel where choruses pass from the mic to the room. Tight harmonies, tin whistles, fiddle and guitars set the pace, with that mix of diaspora tradition and North American pulse that defines their long run.
