Ismo arrives with his Perseverance Tour, a precise and playful stand-up in which the Finnish comedian delights in the pitfalls of language, everyday misunderstandings and cultural misalignments. He turns words inside out, dismantles obvious assumptions and points to those small situations where everything flips because of an accent, a nuance or misplaced politeness. His humour proceeds by observation, counterpoint and well-timed silences, bringing about that moment when you recognise yourself without effort. Between Helsinki, Los Angeles and our own habits, he recounts the misunderstandings that stick to you when you change language or setting, those objects that never have the function you think, relationships negotiated to the millimetre, and the twisted logic that sometimes governs our simplest gestures.
