Laurent Baffie examines the obsessions and everyday slip‑ups in Toc Toc, a dialogue-driven comedy in which six patients find themselves stuck in Dr. Stern’s waiting room. Each arrives with a deeply rooted disorder — palilalia, Tourette syndrome, nosophobia, a compulsion to avoid the markings on the floor — and must cope with the others’ tics while the doctor keeps them waiting. Between confidences, frictions and small improvised games, conversation flows and the group gradually reveals itself, unfiltered and unvarnished. Pascal Maillard’s staging relies on a precise tempo and makes space for the ensemble. On stage, Mathieu Gaudin, Marie Elie, Sophie Morin, Nelly Pichotbadeaud, Kamal Rawas and Olivier Collin bring these characters to life with an energy attentive to detail, playing with silences, repetitions and linguistic slips. The text, direct and clever, confronts each person with their little quirks while staying true to the arc of a story about encounter. Toc Toc thus unfolds as a human‑scale chamber piece, carried by a close-knit company that lets every line breathe.
