Info
MEMORIALS, an experimental pop duo from Great Britain, navigates between psych rock, off-kilter folk and analog electronics, with a free-jazz edge. Often compared to Broadcast, Portishead or The Velvet Underground, the band nonetheless carves out its own path. MEMORIALS will play Le Hasard Ludique in Paris on April 8, 2026.
Behind the name are Verity Susman (Electrelane) and Matthew Simms (Wire). Formed in 2022, the duo first revealed itself through cinema with an initial film score, then released two albums on the same day in 2023: Music For Film: Tramps! and Music For Film: Women Against The Bomb. A shift that cemented their taste for narrative formats and sonic collages.
Their music, crafted in their own studio, is captured in the old-fashioned way: reel-to-reel tape machines, vintage effects and analog recordings that let the textures breathe. Concerts around the world shifted the project’s center of gravity toward the stage, nurturing ideas beyond the scope of film. In 2024 they signed to Fire Records to release their debut album, Memorial Waterslides, a synthesis of a sonic language in motion.
