Info
Formed in 1983 in Münster by Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd and Frank Mertens, Alphaville left its mark on the synth-pop scene with Big in Japan, Sounds Like a Melody and Forever Young, which became touchstones of the 1980s. Across seven studio albums and international tours, the band has honed a distinctive melodic songwriting style, carried by Marian Gold’s instantly recognisable voice.
In 2010, Alphaville returned to the German charts with Catching Rays On Giant, led by I Die For You Today. In 2022, the triple symphonic album Eternally Yours reached the top five and was accompanied by a series of concerts with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg.
For its 40th anniversary in 2024, the band released the compilation Forever! Best of 40 Years, co-created with its fans, while Forever Young entered a new international chapter—going viral on TikTok and being reworked by David Guetta alongside Alphaville and Ava Max. In 2025, Alphaville received the European Prize for Culture and prepared a new album, all while continuing an extensive tour.
Alphaville will perform at the Bataclan in Paris on 13 June 2026. The concert will be an opportunity to traverse four decades of songs, from classics to recent tracks, with the current lineup: Marian Gold (vocals), Carsten Brocker (keyboards), Alexandra Merl (bass), David Goodes (guitar) and Jakob Kiersch (drums).
