Ousanousava

Since the early 1980s, Ousanousava has embodied a clear vision of the music of La Réunion: a blend of maloya, séga and Creole song, carried by the voices and songwriting of brothers Bernard and François Joron. With a self-titled debut album in 1989 and fifteen records since — including Ça mon pays in 2021 — and a career that has taken them from the island’s stages to tours in France and across the Indian Ocean region, the group has built a patient and generous body of work.

On 7 May 2026 at Makeda in Marseille, Ousanousava will present a journey through their repertoire, revisiting the tracks that have punctuated their various albums. On stage, eight musicians weave smooth, flexible grooves across percussion, guitars, bass, drums and a brass section that opens up the space. The violin also joins the soundscape, adding colors that evoke the island’s diversity. Without being trapped in nostalgia, the group plays its classics with today’s energy, interweaving languages and rhythms and evoking a memory that remains alive. The concert is conceived to let listeners hear how this story continues to reinvent itself, up close with the audience.
