BIM (BENIN INTERNATIONAL MUSICAL)

Benin International Musical (BIM) will perform at the Sémaphore Trébeurden on April 25, 2026. Born in Benin in 2017, this five-member collective revisits traditional songs and music by blending them with rock, folk and hip‑hop. Inspired by Vodun culture, BIM draws on traditional repertoires and dances to weave music that connects Beninese roots with contemporary sounds. Choir-like voices, percussion and guitars intertwine, and the arrangements emphasize the deep links between West African music, rock and rap.

On stage, the group favors transmission over display, allowing the rhythms, melodies and collective energy to speak. Traditional songs open up to contemporary textures, riffs respond to the drums’ pulses, and the whole forms a natural bridge between heritage and urban cultures. This is a concert that invites the discovery of the richness of Vodun practices without frozen folklore, privileging listening, movement and sharing.
